The Day Sachin Tendulkar Made His Test Debut at 16

Sachin Tendulkar made his Test Debut in Nov 15 1989 at the age of 16 in a Test match in Karachi vs Pakistan. He was a young, debuting batsman against a very strong, albeit, legendary Pakistani bowling attack in the form of Wasim Akram, Imran Khan, and Waqar Younis. His first innings ended with a very tame 15 runs, albeit with a couple of well hit boundaries. Despite this being a disappointing start, many fans and players alike could see the very clean and elegant style of play Tendulkar shared, and this seemed to be the beginning of a great cricketer’s career.

Sachin’s Early Career and Debut

Tendulkar’s Early Career After Mumbai’s local grounds, he was living his dream, with very little time having passed at all. Tendulkar’s next match contained one of the first signs of his never back down attitude, as Tendulkar ended his innings with a bloody nose, but was still able to score a solid 59 runs, a very impressive score for a new batsman against one of the best bowling attacks of the time. From this match, it was only Tendulkar’s runs, and nothing but runs, that came.

Stellar Career and Records

For the following 2 decades, Tendulkar was widely regarded as the “God of Cricket”. He played 200 Test Matches and 463 ODIs. When he retired in 2013, he held the record for scoring the most runs in cricketing history and possessed more records than most people. Unmatched by other competitors, he was the only player to achieve 100 international centuries. Sachin scored 51 centuries in Tests and 49 in ODIs.
