Filmfare Awards 2025 : Laapataa Ladies Sweeps With 13 Trophies — Full Winners List & Highlights
Laapataa Ladies Creates History at Filmfare Awards 2025 + Full Winners List
The 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 were the Grandest Filmfare Awards yet. It was a cool Saturday night and the EKA Arena at the EKA Convention Center was a sight to behold, right by Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad. With Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Maniesh Paul as masters of ceremony, the riveting star performances and emotional victories contributed to the buoyant atmosphere, and made the evening a true celebration of Bollywood.
However, the dominant narrative of the night was Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies. With 13 Filmfare Awards, Laapataa Ladies equaled the record held by Gully Boy since 2020. It swept the major categories in acting, music, and direction, and won the most prestigious awards in nearly every fundamental sector.
A Night of Star Power
Before we get into the winners, let’s talk about the vibe. Shah Rukh Khan started the night remarking the event in his own unique style. He made everyone laugh while dancing as if the stage was his. Kriti Sanon, Kajol and a few other stars lit up the event with their performances. It felt like old-school Filmfare full of charm and cheer.
As the night unfolded, Laapataa Ladies kept making its way to the stage again and again. With each announcement of their name, the audience’s cheers intensified. You could tell the team didn’t expect this scale of love.
Major Awards: Big Wins and Surprises
The Best Film trophy went to Laapataa Ladies, while Kiran Rao bagged the Best Director award for her nuanced storytelling.
The Best Actor (Male) award had a twist — Abhishek Bachchan (I Want To Talk) and Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) shared the honour. It’s rare but refreshing to see two actors celebrated for very different performances in the same category.
On the women’s side, Alia Bhatt took home Best Actress for her powerful role in Jigra. She walked on stage with her usual grace, but you could see genuine emotion in her eyes.
In the Critics’ Awards, Rajkummar Rao won Best Actor (Male) for Srikanth, while Pratibha Rannta from Laapataa Ladies took the female honour — a moment that had many in the crowd tearing up. She’s a newcomer, and this was a big, big moment for her.
