Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara To Launch In December: Two Battery Options, Premium Nexa Retail, 500+ km Range
One of the most anticipated launches from Maruti Suzuki is the e-Vitara, the company’s very first all-electric SUV, slated for December 2025. Selling the e-Vitara at the premium Nexa outlets will symbolise the further expansion of Maruti’s SUV portfolio, which is now going at an impressive rate.
Maruti Suzuki Prepares For Its First Electric SUV Launch
This year, Maruti began selling the Victoris midsize SUV from its Arena network. The company achieved an impressive 25,000 bookings for the model within a few weeks. With these figures, the company will now focus on the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, its first electric SUV.
The electric SUV e-Vitara was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which startled many. Also, from Maruti’s Gujarat plant, international market standard production began in August 2025 and the company has exported is more than 6,000 units produced in this run.
The first 2,900 e-Vitaras were exported in the EU, shipping from Pipavav Port in Gujarat to the UK, Germany, Norway, and 9 other countries. It is anticipated the electric SUV will serve over 100 countries including India during its December launch.
Two Battery Packs, Long Range & Fast Charging
For the Indian market, two battery options for the Maruti e-Vitara will be available – 48.8 KWh and 61.1 KWh, both manufactured by BYD. Maruti claims the e-Vitara has a driving range of over 500 km per charge, making it one of the best in the segment.
The smaller battery works with an electric motor of 144 PS, 192.5 Nm, and the larger battery works with 174 PS while having the same torque. Battery packs utilise DC fast charging, and can be charged from 0 to 80% in 50 minutes, making long drives more reliable and convenient.
Price, Rivals & Key Features
The e-Vitara will have a starting price expected to be above ₹ 17 lakh ex-showroom. Competition for the e-Vitara will include the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Harrier EV, Mahindra BE 6, Mahindra XEV 9e, and MG ZS EV.
The SUV is built on the Heartect e architecture and will be available in Delta, Zeta, and Alpha trims. Significant features include a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a 10-way power driver seat.
